Alcohol Then, Alcohol Now: The Impacts of Underage Drinking and How to Prevent It.

Patti Tiberi (Talk-it-Out NC Ambassador) and Rodney Poole (NC Alcoholic Beverage Control) will lead discussions with parents, grandparents, and other individuals that take care of teens about teen alcohol use. Speakers will begin with the main points conveyed by the teens in the previous session. Attendees are invited to share questions and experiences they have had. This session will culminate in parents and grandparents signing a Talk-It-Out NC pledge.
Hector Mendoza (Talk-it-Out NC Ambassador) will lead a simultaneous session in Spanish. Hector’s approach is to focus on alcohol from an ABC standpoint to help with fears parents have about what to do and the potential consequences of underage drinking.
Our goal is to provide research-based information to equip caregivers to be able to have effective conversations with their kids to reduce underage drinking and to educate and encourage kids to make healthy decisions.

Héctor Mendoza (Embajador de Talk-it-Out NC) dirigirá una sesión simultánea en español. La propuesta de Héctor es enfocarse en el alcohol desde el punto de vista de ABC para ayudar con los miedos que los padres tienen sobre “el qué hacer” y las posibles consecuencias del uso de alcohol en menores.
Nuestro objetivo es proporcionar información basada en la investigación para preparar a los cuidadores para que puedan tener conversaciones efectivas con sus hijos para reducir el consumo de alcohol por menores y para educar y animar a los niños a tomar decisiones saludables.
