Do you have an individual in your caseload that struggles with planning, social skills, or impulse control? If so, there is a strong chance you are working with someone who has a brain injury due to prenatal alcohol exposure, known as fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). This interactive session will help you define FASD, understand how this disorder may present in an individual, identify strategies for support and recognize the role we all play in preventing alcohol-exposed pregnancies and FASD.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Define Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)
- Understand the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on the developing brain
- Identify common characteristics of this disorder across the lifespan
- Explore strategies to help an individual with FASD succeed
- Recognize the call to action in preventing alcohol-exposed pregnancies
